The Big Question: Why Do You Do Martial Arts?

Recommended Posts

Well said Lori... I have also tried to set the example for my daughter and she beat me in getting her black belt....!

I started at age 33 to help my son (then 7) out (he was having troubles with his yellow belt form) Our school started a family class. I joined and my son decided to take football instead at age 8. I stayed on...gave his sparring equip & uniforn to my daughter...she began training. I found out I was pregnant...left for 2 years came back and 7 years later got my black belt. Its great for self confidence too...something I think we all need more of! :karate:

It takes sacrifice to be the best.

There are always two choices, two paths to take. One is easy. And its only reward is that it's easy.

6) I am fascinated by the rich cultures of these far eastern lands, I'm pretty sure I would read a lot about them even if I did not do Martial Arts.

This is a fascinating topic. I cant believe there aren't 259 different posts in here. You know, one from everyone.

I see many reasons for starting are common. What I really see is passion. I started for anger management. Then, I got hooked. Now I cannot imagine living without doing something almost every day related to the martial arts.

Hey, does anyone else brush their teeth while in shiko dachi to help their stance get stronger?
