telsun Posted July 15, 2003 Posted July 15, 2003 What are the rules of Kyokushins 100 man kumite? What grade do you take it at? I keep asking God what I'm for and he tells me........."gee I'm not sure!"
WhiteBelt Posted July 15, 2003 Posted July 15, 2003 I've read some place that it is basically kyokushin's fight rules, with one round per man. The object is to stay alive, not to win; just survive and you pass the test.
Karateka_latino Posted July 15, 2003 Posted July 15, 2003 I've read some place that it is basically kyokushin's fight rules, with one round per man. fireka Posted July 16, 2003 Posted July 16, 2003 never heard of this, it sounds great! why the heck dosent isshinryu do it? will, im going to eventually...just got to get a hundred fighters....hey karateforums.com, yall intrested in a sparing match!? Kyokushin Posted July 16, 2003 Posted July 16, 2003 Same rules apply that I posted in full contact karate. It's 100 rounds with a fresh opponent each time. A long time ago it was required for fourth or fifth Dan, but Oyama found no one was as excited about sparring 100 rounds as he was. So it's voluntary. Oyama decided to start this after being inspired by two people. Yamoaka Tesshu, who was a sword master who completed a 100 man duel and also Masahiko Kimuro, a judoka who completed a 200 man throwing over two days, all against judo black belts, w/o a single defeat. Oyama himself went on to complete a 300 man kumite over three days. Supposedly he wanted to go for a fourth, but no one was able or willing. Wonder why Sempai Emily2nd Kyu-Brown Belt---The true essence of the Martial Way can only be realized through experience. Knowing this, learn never to fear its demands. --- Mas. Oyama ---
telsun Posted July 18, 2003 Author Posted July 18, 2003 It's 100 rounds with a fresh opponent each time. Is each round 2 minutes? What grades are the 100 men? Do they fight you in any order,i.e ascending grades? Shows how big kyokushin must be, if I wanted to spar 100 men at my grading each man would have to go about 3 or 4 times!! Where am I likely to witness such an event? I keep asking God what I'm for and he tells me........."gee I'm not sure!"
Kirves Posted July 18, 2003 Posted July 18, 2003 (edited) Yes, two min rounds, no rest periods. Earlier it was done 50 fights a day, so you didn't actually have to have a 100 opponents. In the seventies it was changed to 100 in one day. Edited August 27, 2003 by Kirves
AnonymousCoward Posted July 18, 2003 Posted July 18, 2003 Franisco Filho is my favourite K-1 fighter. His technique is fantastic as is his spirit and sportsmanship. Did you know he's also a vegetarian?
Knockdown Posted July 18, 2003 Posted July 18, 2003 Most of those 100 man Kumite bouts listed after Matsui can be purchased on video if you want to see what they look like. everything before that is not available.
Knockdown Posted July 18, 2003 Posted July 18, 2003 Kazumi 100 man kumite and Matsui 100 man Kumite are on sale on Ebay right now for example. of the tapes i have seen, the Filho 100 man is most likely the best of the videos available. he is incredible, both in karate and K-1.
