That usually changes from school to school reguardless of style.

A good rule of thumb is to go from light to dark colors

What G95champ said is correct and one of the theories behind the light to dark belt system is that you start with white and has you pick up knowledge and train hard your belt gets more dirty until it becomes black from all your experiance. This is why some schools surgest not to wash your belt but i personaly surgest that the belt should be washed just has regularly has your gi for higene purposes. And finally i will say that belts should not be your ultimate aim in martial arts but mearly a guide to progress. After all belts are just a piece of cloth thats supposed to hold your pants up, and alot of the time they dont even do that well.

Your question was answered by G95champ. No one here can tell you what the belt order is, because every school has their own belt system.

It usually goes something like this, but it most certainly WILL BE DIFFERERENT at your school.

white

yellow

(maybe an orange here)

(usually, but not always blue here)

green

purple

brown

black

(cerimonial red / white striped)

(cerimonial red -- usually only the top dog wears this one)

Note that the cerimonial belts are usually not worn during normal work outs.

There may be any number of stripes added to any any of these belts. In my experience, most okinawan type karate schools have 10 kyu ranks, and if you increase in kyu rank without a change in belt color then you will get a stripe added to the belt. I know of a school that has only white and black belts, and to indicate rank add some kanji characters.

It appears that noone actually knows the belt system of Shudokan Karate. Perhaps you should ask someone from your club.

At the end of the day the order of belts is of little consequence.

Let us know when you find out though.

I keep asking God what I'm for and he tells me........."gee I'm not sure!"

I use the same belt system my teacher did. However when I was training he changed our second purple to a red belt so we could have a differant color belt. Its really up to your teacher and maybe the group he is tied to.

Red is the only belt you will see anywhere from early ransk to pre black and post black.

Our ranking system is this in Shotokan but again no 2 schools are the same.

White

Gold

Blue

Green

Purple

Red

Brown

At my school we keep white and have the grade written on in japanese until we reach 4th kyu where we recieve a brown belt and then later a black belt.

Do you train in Yakima? If you do, i'm sure the ranking system there is

White

Yellow

Gold

Orange

Purple

Green

Brown 3rd Kyu

Brown 2nd Kyu

Brown 1st Kyu

Shodan-ho (Black Belt without credentials)

Shodan (Black Belt with credentials)

If however, you train with Mr. Isaias in Auburn, well he does it a little differently than Shihan Mack. The question remains, where is your school?

Enwrought with the Gold and Silver Light

The Blue, the Dim, the Dark Cloths,

on Night, Light, and the Half Light,

I would spread these cloths under your feet.

But I, being poor, have only my Dreams.

I have spread my Dreams under your feet.
