TJS Posted July 14, 2003 Posted July 14, 2003 A 16 week course or 32 hour long classes in Judo would get you... just looking for opinions on how quickly you can pick up judo. Thanks Guys.
Karateka_latino Posted July 14, 2003 Posted July 14, 2003 Depending on how good the instructor is and how fast you catch up, in that period of time you can have a solid foundation of the techniques of Judo.

TJS Posted July 15, 2003 Author Posted July 15, 2003 Are you going to start judo, TJS? Im considering it..it is offered as a Credit course at my school and I think I would enjoy it as well possibly pick up a few cool throws I have a pretty solid foundation in Standup fighting and It think it would go with BJJ nicely.
DokterVet Posted July 15, 2003 Posted July 15, 2003 You'd get credit for it? Awesome! I'm probably starting judo in the fall. 22 years oldShootwrestlingFormerly Wado-Kai Karate

StoneSkin Posted July 15, 2003 Posted July 15, 2003 Judo rules, the nice thing abut combining Judo with BJJ is they compliment eachother, If BJJ was your main martial art that you wanted to master learning Judo wont mix you up as much as Learning Tae kwon do at the same time. Im usually one to say its best to master 1 martial art, rather then to mix but mixing an art that is so closely related is an exception for me. You do hip throws and break falls and lots of others in both Judo and BJJ. I wish the school I went to gave credits for Judo or other martial arts.
StoneSkin Posted July 15, 2003 Posted July 15, 2003 Im probably gonna get Jumped on huge for liking mastering 1 art rather then mixing many. So befor that happends id just like to say, I believe it would be better for me to master 1 and not mix. Mixing may be better for others.
sansoouser Posted July 15, 2003 Posted July 15, 2003 master 1 then master others? But not mix while you are learning one The amateur shoots his hands out ferociously, but lacks any true power. A master is not so flamboyant, but his touch is as heavy as a mountain.
shanemm Posted July 22, 2003 Posted July 22, 2003 to each his own. i'm happy with learning Judo and a little Tai Kwan Do at the same time and i'd learn more but soccer takes time also(a lot of time cause tryouts for school are coming up). i also understand some people don't learn as fast as i do or some don't even like the idea of different martial arts. it's your life so live it how you want to and learn what you feel like learning, not how someone tells you to... There are two types of people in the world. Those that find excuses and those that find a way.-Unknown
