Cause I'm a karateka and I would really like to know wut you guys use to make your punches better, since that Kung Fu is the mother of the martial arts eheheheheh well, if you decide to answer my question please identify wich style u practice! thanx just for readin! I did that for a month and I could hear the wind from what I thought were quite soft punches. so, maybe that'll work oh yeah the punches are hook/jabs (a two in one kinda thing) just imagine you're clubbing someone around the temples. fool me once... shame on youfool me twice... Prodigal Son Posted July 14, 2003 Posted July 14, 2003 Punching a wall bag full of gravel to get the power up, candles for the relaxation in the punch. Ball on a string for moving targets. Sparring pads are okay for distancing etc but always draw a face on them or you will soon learn to "seek hands" when you should be hitting the center line. If you want to be good at punching, do lots of good punches. I really needed to know how the kung fu guys practice... cause in karate there's a thing called makiwara ( a board stuck on the ground)< and the guys use to punch this a lot, and i can't afford or make one... so I thought, how that can't be so important! cause karate came from china, and I doubt that the chinese MA had makiwara... so the question came to my mind: How the hell did they practice their punches... Drunken Monkey Posted July 25, 2003 Posted July 25, 2003 we train chain punches with a partner. one side just chain punches and the other side just does pak sau to "brush off" or stop the punches. by ourselves, nothing beats a regular 1000 punches a night. chain punches starting with your left 10x1, 10x3chain, 10x5chain, 10x7chain, 10x9chain this adds to a total of 250 punches. slowly build up the number of times you do these. i'm currently doing four sets ot these everynight. it's supposed to get easier sometime soon but it isn't happening. don't think i'll be moving up to 1250 punches yet... post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
