You say that in a fight a martial artist wouldn't wanto make the opponent fly away, but maybe Tai Chi Chuan people disagree with that?

I have seen Bruce lee's demostrations of the one inch punch in TV documentaries about him.

 

Looks cool but i don't think i can use something like that in a real street fight.

Although, the punch originates from Wing Chun, the chinese call Wing Chun 'Phone box fighting', the one inch punch backs up my answer in not needing space to punch hard with an effect!

From a Tai Chi Ch'uan perspective, you are only making them "fly away" when pushing or warding off. :smile: Do not forget the Chen style "cannon fist" or many other techniques (done with closed and open hands) are strikes and not pushes. :eek:

I've seen Bob Wall do the one incher on a underground video, I don't know if it's legit, but I was impressed...

I have seen the film clip most of you refer to. Was there not also a 3 inch punch that Bruce Lee did?

 

It looks like his whole body was behind the punch.
