ChangWuJi Posted October 13, 2001 Posted October 13, 2001 You say that in a fight a martial artist wouldn't wanto make the opponent fly away, but maybe Tai Chi Chuan people disagree with that? "There are no limits. There are plateaus, but you must not stay there, you must go beyond them. If it kills you, it kills you. A man must constantly exceed his level."
moobrack Posted October 16, 2001 Posted October 16, 2001 I am a martial artist and I found myself in a fight with somebody I would do all I can to make them flt away, then I would leg it! Karateka_latino Posted October 16, 2001 Posted October 16, 2001 I have seen Bruce lee's demostrations of the one inch punch in TV documentaries about him. Looks cool but i don't think i can use something like that in a real street fight.
moobrack Posted October 17, 2001 Posted October 17, 2001 Although, the punch originates from Wing Chun, the chinese call Wing Chun 'Phone box fighting', the one inch punch backs up my answer in not needing space to punch hard with an effect! From a Tai Chi Ch'uan perspective, you are only making them "fly away" when pushing or warding off. Do not forget the Chen style "cannon fist" or many other techniques (done with closed and open hands) are strikes and not pushes. Cheers. John John E.
