the san soo multiple attacker demonstration was a bit unrealistic...

 

Just a little bit... :roll:

 

But it showed the all-powerful groin strike! (What everyone here seems to think is the ultimate solution to everything...)

I don't ! I see that a lot on this forum though. (Kick him in the groin, etc..) It makes me laugh, so I was being sarcastic.

I don't know what that even was. That guy was just trying keep students making by them believe they can do something against a grappler when your already in his guard, HA HA HA. I'm a firm believer in BJJ being one of the best on the ground, learn it or learn to avoid it. I highly recommend BJJ for ground fighting to anyone. :)

 

Another thing I used San Soo as an example against multiple attackers and those videos weren't very good. My teacher never made a video, but he was a bad mofo. He had actual Combat experience, this guy was nuts. I also recommend Budo Taijutsu for multiple attacker scenarios if you have the patience, it's not an easy art to understand. Once you do understand, it is awesome. :)

RUN if you can. Other than that the only advice I can give you about multiple attackers is stay to their outside and make them chase you. DO NOT let them surround you or it's over. The key is moving your * and becoming hard to hit. I have found that in my experience when guys jump you they are overly aggressive and that will work to your advantage because they will pretty much follow you where ever you move to get to you. Move into places or positions that make it hard for them to get to you at the same time. And you can forget the * you see in movies about guy's beating 4 people at the same time and not getting hit because trust me YOU WILL GET HIT!! Don't hesitate to break something be it an arm, leg or what ever you can get to. And lastly watch out for who you hit. In a situation like that you won't be thinking clearly at all and often times you can wind up punching someone who isn't even envolved in the fight. When I got jumped by 3 punks at a party I decked a guy who was just trying to help break up the fight because I wasn't in a rational state of mind and my adrenaline was pumping hard. I've seen guys hit their own sisters when they get jumped because you are in survival mode and it becomes much harder to determine who is friend or foe.

Tapped out, knocked out, or choked out...Take your pick.

yeh i agree with you a bit there. bjj is not that good for mutiple opponents fights. bjj is complex, as complex is not bjj. group fights need to be simple, therefore incorporate simplicty into bjj, then my friend your guarteed results. group fighting is hard, as hard is complex. simple mind is the key. key is not simple. simple as that.

I agree with goshinman. Movement is the key to multiple opponent scenarios. You have to stay " a step ahead " as it were, and not let yourself become surrounded. Other than that you better turn into as vicious an animal as you can and pick up the nearest handy object and pray. Ideally you get on the outside of your opponents and RUN! If you have to fight, style goes out the window in about a half second after the adrenaline dump. ANyone that's ever had a real fight knows this. It's very difficult to do fine movements and you may not be rational enough to think through very much at all. My repetitve training has saved my a** more than once. I've gone on autopilot twice (I'm sorry to say) and I almost killed a guy the first time. My training helped but in no way did I have conscious control over what I was doing. It was actually very weird and a lot scary to realize that you can do something that violent to someone without even realizing it. I'm rambling....sorry.
