isshinryuka Posted July 8, 2003 Posted July 8, 2003 Feet shoulder width apart Toe on one foot aligned with heel on other foot. Both feet turned in slightly (outside of feet point straight ahead) This is for the Isshinryu style in my school.
Knockdown Posted July 9, 2003 Posted July 9, 2003 RE: hangetusu dachi Very similar to Sanchin dachi, except the foot in front is quite a bit furthe out in front. when i was taught it, we called in a crescant stance. Hangetusu Kata is an OLD kata in Kyokushin, that was long ago dropped from the style of Kyokushin. It is known as Seisan in other styles of karate. anyway, they way we were taught, the weight distribution is still 50/50 like in Sanchin dachi. not 70/30 like in a front stance. feet are like this: \ / Okay, not perfect, but you getthe picture. and as mentioned, the left foot in the diagram will not be able to rotate the heel out as much as you are used to in Sanchin dachi. hope this helps. OSU!
