telsun Posted July 6, 2003 Posted July 6, 2003 What are your short term and long term martial art and non martail art goals? Mine: MA Short term: Win an interclub comp and obtain long overdue 2nd dan in Goju. Maintain Jujitsu practice. Long term: Run a MA school, make many MA friends, obtain BB in Jujitsu (a bit cliche but a goal none the less ) LIFE Short term: Finish decorating living room, clear debt Long term: Continue to be a good father and husband, make more time for people. Decide what career I should persue! If you wish to add time limits then please feel free. Setting deadlines often help goals become achievements rather than dreams. I keep asking God what I'm for and he tells me........."gee I'm not sure!"
CheekyMusician Posted July 6, 2003 Posted July 6, 2003 MA Short Term: Actually talk to people at my club. I've been there a year and I'm still to shy to talk to most of them. They must think I'm a real freak! Plus, I'd like to try and find a Judo school nearby. Long term: Get to at least 1st dan in Shotokan. But hey, if you're going that far you might as well stick out the journey and try and get 2nd dan and above. We shall see. Life Short Term: stop being lazy and learn some more Japanese, try and prepare some decent lessons for my Bible class, practice my music more, do more exercise etc. Long Term: Write a book sometime before I die (hopefully), travel the world (I especially want to see Florence, Rome, Paris again and Japan). And just wait and see where life takes me for the rest of my time, really. Smile. It makes people wonder what you've been up to.
Fenris-wolf Posted July 7, 2003 Posted July 7, 2003 Hmm, interesting thread! MA Short Term Really really want to fight in August (Muay Thai). But on the other hand want to be completely ready when I do fight so maybe not. I guess just improve technique and stamina. General, huh? Long Term Want to go to Thailand to train before the end of 2005. Oo, exciting! Life Short Term Get a new job!!! Slightly longer short-term, get into University (should find out this/next week ) Long Term Hmm. Get a job I enjoy, continue to progress in MA (all and any I have access to at a given time!), be a more relaxed and kinder person. Would like a family, but that is fuuuture tense! G95champ Posted July 7, 2003 Posted July 7, 2003 Short - to do my best at whatever I do. Long - to be able to look back at what I've done and be proud. (General George S. Patton Jr.) "It's the unconquerable soul of man, and not the nature of the weapon he uses, that ensures victory."

Build my own dojo where ever i end up residing after my time over seas and with the military. LIFE short- get a better job so i can make more money long- save up a lot of money, and travel even more than i already do That which does not destroy me will only make me stronger
Bretty101 Posted July 7, 2003 Posted July 7, 2003 No goals really just plodding along doing the same stuff. More then happy with everything the way it is at the moment. Quite frankly I'm great! Just kidding. Always specify a timescale when setting yourself goals, coz you can go on forever saying i'm gonna do this and that. Unless you set a target it won't happen. Sounds like the motivational courses i keep getting sent on from work. Bretty

karatekid1975 Posted July 7, 2003 Posted July 7, 2003 MA: Short term Actually get my black belt this time LOL. If for some reason I have to move again, I'll just keep trying My goal has always been "Black Belt Excellence" (from my TSD days). That includes technique, learning everything I can, and teach (I love teaching people MA). Long term: I want my own school. But my goal for that is to be, at least, a 4th dan or higher first. And learn one other martial art. LIFE Short term: To better my health. I am going to study to be a fitness and nutrition gal. Long Term: With my last answer, I want to help others get healthy. When I open my school, I will have MA AND fitness and nutrition club. And I want to just live day by day and enjoy life Laurie F
shotochem Posted July 7, 2003 Posted July 7, 2003 MA Short Term- To continue to train hard and learn as much as possible. Long Term- I plan on continuing as long as my body is able and the spirit is willing Life- Short and Long term- To not let the little things bother me, learn to relax and enjoy what is really important. Make everyone you meet and associate with remember and enjoy the experience. I dont remember the words exactly but there is an old native American saying. May they laugh with tears of joy at your coming (birth), And May they shed tears of sorrow at your passing.... If anyone has the actual saying I would appreciate it being posted. ( just a small look at my kinder gentler side. I think I need a hug. ) Pain is only temporary, the memory of that pain lasts a lifetime.
