sansoouser Posted July 5, 2003 Posted July 5, 2003 would you run or fight? The amateur shoots his hands out ferociously, but lacks any true power. A master is not so flamboyant, but his touch is as heavy as a mountain.
SBN Doug Posted July 5, 2003 Posted July 5, 2003 Sorry, I can't vote. There's no cut and dry answer. If they were in the process of pulling it out, AND I was close enough, I would probably fight. If they were already able to get it out, OR I was too far away, I would either: Hold completely still and give them what they wanted or Run, but only if they didn't have a clear shot (i.e. I could duck behind something or I had enough distance on them already.) Jade_Lotus Posted July 5, 2003 Posted July 5, 2003 I'd have to agree. I can't answer either way. It depends on the situation. So I can't answer the poll. Understand this, a man without honor, is not a man at all, but a coward in disquise.Animis Opibusque Parati
TJS Posted July 5, 2003 Posted July 5, 2003 it would also depend ...you have to rely on your instincts...and you have to think if you have family/loved ones etc that you have to protect.
G95champ Posted July 5, 2003 Posted July 5, 2003 Hands up and do what they wanted me to until I realize one of 2 things. 1. They were going to let me go after they took my money and car keys. (in which case you don't act) 2. They are going to kill you reguardless. (In which case you take you best shot when the opening appears) Big thing is to always be calm. Remember most people do not want to kill you. They see the gun as a power play but don't want to use it. Now you never know how nuts they are or if they a high or drunk which may lead to them doing things they may not do usualy but in general I think its safe to say people don't want to kill people. Espically if they are just after your money. (General George S. Patton Jr.) "It's the unconquerable soul of man, and not the nature of the weapon he uses, that ensures victory."

G95champ Posted July 6, 2003 Posted July 6, 2003 Yeah I understand what your saying. Someone pulls a gun then all it takes is a flick of the finger and its bye bye sweet world. This is just the normal speech I give classesn when asked about it. Then I show how to catch bulletts in my teeth. LOL (General George S. Patton Jr.) "It's the unconquerable soul of man, and not the nature of the weapon he uses, that ensures victory."
G95champ Posted July 6, 2003 Posted July 6, 2003 Another note Other things to come into play such as. 1. He is going to rape you gf, sister, mom, etc... 2. Is their a big crowd arround... Mean may he miss you and shoot someone not involved. 3. Do you know them... Just some other things to think about. (General George S. Patton Jr.) "It's the unconquerable soul of man, and not the nature of the weapon he uses, that ensures victory."
Fenris-wolf Posted July 7, 2003 Posted July 7, 2003 Depends, obviously. But if it's possible to run (without being hit!), I run. If it's going to be more dangerous to run that fight, I fight. Or I play along then fight. Getting away's always safer though! Of course there's the whole "if he/she doesn't get me they may get somebody else" and if I thought that I would be hard-pressed to leave them to it. MuayThai Fighter Posted July 7, 2003 Posted July 7, 2003 I cannot believe how full of shit everyone of you guys are, you'd all stay still. You would give them what they want, you wouldn't fight them. You would have to be plain stupid to fight someone with a gun. First of all most people regardless of martial arts training would freeze if someone pulled a gun it's only normal to have that kind of reaction. You'd be shitting your pants. Most styles may teach some knife defense, but most styles don't teach gun defense.Even then you can't block bullets or catch them, that is only in the movies. Second, you got to remember you can run,but a bullet fired can still hit you from quite a distance. If a person really wants to fire that gun,all it takes is one flick of that trigger and you can kiss your ass good bye. Take even one step forward and if he pulls the trigger you are dead and you won't have enough time to run or hide anyways. If you guys honestly think you would have enough time to run, duck or fight a guy with a gun,you have to be pretty damn stupid no offense. If a guy is reaching for a gun yes you could fight him by kicking him in nuts so hard he won't be able to do anything but gasp for air,but most guys with a gun who plan on using it will already have it in their hands, unless they are plain stupid. The chances of that would be 1 in a million for anyone having a gun on them.
