Fenris-wolf
right now with the fact that we can only control a small 10% of our brain we are limited in what we can do, we can still perform miraculous feats that amaze many in the world, yet if we had control of even say 20 % or 30 % of our brain, like fireka said, we could do stuff that we would only see in cartoons and anime, if we could unlock our mind we could do anything....or almost anything, i truely believe with full control of our minds we could crush cars, fly shoot lasers what ever, but as for human evolution right now we can't , if someone unlocks that part of their brain, then who knows what they can do. Nice in theory, yes. But I feel compelled to point out that "unlocking" more of our brain is most likely to drive us mad. Imagine, for example, that somebody was born with telepathy. But since he/she's the only person with it, it is doubtful that he/she will be able to control it. Now imagine hearing the concious thoughts (just for argument's sake we'll say it's your primary thought) of everybody in a 5 metre radius. How do you cope with that?? And that's just a small area. How about 5 kilometres? 5 miles? People who have been born with astounding abilities that science cannot explain almost always have difficulty with day-to-day reality. Hell, teenagers, people, have difficulty with day-to-day reality! I used to wish I could use more of my brain, but upon further consideration the thought is more than a little intimidating... fireka
she brings up an excellent point, imagine bringing your skill to a level were you can feel and taste and smell an object, or even person, just by thinking about it. imagine not being able to control such a thing. it is very disturbing to suddenly sence a dead relitive in an empty room. we should be careful with how far we take things. just because we could, dosent necassarily mean we should. sansoouser
what feat is it you wish for me to perform? tell me, and i promise you i will do everything possible (and impossible) to show it to you before your death. What can you do? Raise my arm? The amateur shoots his hands out ferociously, but lacks any true power. A master is not so flamboyant, but his touch is as heavy as a mountain. Warp Spider
The relevance of this thread to Ki seems limited, but at any rate - humans already use 100% of their brain. The statement that they only use 10% refers only to the volume of space that the brain occupies and that in theory a brain 10 times the size could be crammed into that space if the human brain didn't have so much "filler" in it. That does not mean that the remaining 90% can be unlocked, any more than I can unlock the power in my car doors to make it go faster. Only the engine generates power to the drive wheels, and although there is wasted space in there that could house more engine, that requires the actual addition of more engine, not the "unlocking" of engine that's supposedly already there. As far as the bit about lifting the car goes.. it is possible, it's called shock and it's been known for a long time. Whenever a human being suffers severe trauma (usually injury) they enter shock which overrides their bodies natural responses to pain, etc. to allow the person to escape danger. A good example of this is people who are in car accidents. Many times a person will emerge from their vehicle, clearly in very bad shape, walking around normally worrying about their car. The shock lasts only a few dozen seconds, however, and then the person, who felt fine, collapses to the ground as their brain's built-in "safety limits" kick back in. As for the mentality of thinking you can't do something.. well... falling 3 meters isn't that bad if you are in good shape, and many kids are. I fell from the roof of my school and barely felt it. Breaking boards or concrete slabs has nothing to do with "thinking you can," there is a specific technique to it that is completely unrelated to Ki. Paladin - A holy beat down in the name of God! JerryLove
what would you say it takes to break bricks then? is it shear muscle? I have seen little kids do this, believe me they can't normally crush a can of soda. Force applied over time-space. Want an example of how force changes effect? Put a phone book over a concrete slab and tehn hit it... use half what you normally would to break it.i doubt that i can blow out candles through a window, seeing as how i rely on the wind from my strikes, but hey i will try it for you. That was rather my point... "wind != chi" unless you want to call "blowing out a candle" a chi example.i am not a sci fi channel mcmaster....but i will guess .....a pink tu tu Oh.. so close Points for guessing then again, as you love to show me and the rest of us here (rightfully so) that good statments without proof are not even worthy of stateing. will then i have yet to not except a challange. what feat is it you wish for me to perform? tell me, and i promise you i will do everything possible (and impossible) to show it to you before your death. Actual levitation (20 seconds air-time should do it) would certainly do the trick. John G
If there's someone out there juggling cars and stopping bullets, please make sure to point me at him... until then I will continue to remember the lessons of attempts to test such power (for example, the boxer's rebellion in China). I’m just curious as to what "lessons of attempts to test such power" during the boxer's rebellion you were referring to, sounds interesting. You woudnl't hurt yourself to save your child? Being part of the Fire & Rescue service for the past 20 years, I ask myself that question every time we go out on a call. I value everyone’s life equally, and have seen many "parent trying to save child" rescues go tragically wrong. Not only has the family lost a sibling they have also lost a parent. Worse still, is when a rescuer is killed trying to save the parent. ... John G Jarrett III Dan, ITF Taekwon-Do
Warp Spider
I can sense the presence of someone behind meThis is common, and generally suspected to be caused by a slight change in air currents.. flies have this sense developed very well and that is why they are so much better at avoiding being swatted than other insects. (which usually just sit there and let you crush them)now as for stopping my blood flow, i received a nice wound a few years ago, where i had a piece of metal go completely through my foot, blood was squirting out everywhere, and i had lost over a pint or two of blood, i elvate my leg and relaxed and concentrated on the wound and the blood, and it stopped bleeding, i think this counts for something.Elevating your leg will, in itself, cause a decrease in the blood flow. Relaxing will also likely slow your heart rate and thus reduce the blood flow that way as well. Unless by "it stopped bleeding," you are professing that the wound sealed up completely, this is easily explainable by nearly any first aid course. I would have to agree with JerryLove on this one, transmutation, telekinesis, invocation/evocation, these are the things I would associate with Ki. If someone was to demonstrate the capability to spontaneously set objects alight, (no lighters/flamethrowers/other external sources of heat allowed) levitate, seal a wound like Wolverine... these things would likely be Ki related. Heck, I'd be satisfied if a person could breathe fire or poison gas. (again, no external, non-biological devices permitted) Paladin - A holy beat down in the name of God! JerryLove
I’m just curious as to what "lessons of attempts to test such power" during the boxer's rebellion you were referring to, sounds interesting. A rebellion of Chinese martial artists attempted to overthrow the government, believing that their iron-body qigong would make them bullet proof. They were massaccred. This is common, and generally suspected to be caused by a slight change in air currents.. flies have this sense developed very well and that is why they are so much better at avoiding being swatted than other insects. Flies just have a better reflex set... they have near 360 vision, so they can pretty much always see you. There are a lot of reasons you might be able to know someone was behind you.. and qi isn't beyond my willingness to consider... I believe in qi because I use and test it... I don't believe in many of the claims about qi I'e been seeing made. https://www.clearsilat.com
StoneSkin
A lot of claims about Ki are false. Some people are Ki Healers or RiKi Masters or somethin. Jerry Love i think uses Ki to heal people. It may or may not work. But i dont think a Ki healer can magically seal up wounds or remove cancer or repair broken bones. But then again Neither can a Physicatrist and a Physicatrist heals the mentally ill.

I don't believe in many of the claims about qi I'e been seeing made. The body of a fly is actually covered with tiny hairs that pick up changes in the air currents.. The jumping away is a reflex connected to those hairs. That is part of the reason why fly swatters have holes in them - they allow air to flow through them and do not create as much disruption in the air. The holes also make it easier to swing faster.
