StoneSkin Posted July 11, 2003 Posted July 11, 2003 For exapample, try out punching with wheigted gloves, or something like that, wheights about 12kg i think ar good. Now you cant think about other things, otherwise you cant punch. For a good and fast punch with 12kg gloves, you need your full brian energy. Nad when you put off the gloves, you have more power in the punch then before. Why? The energy flows through the nerves are now trained to reach their targets in the muscles automaticly with the same power than before I bet a girl could think about other things easily while shes punching that bag with the weighted gloves. Its called multi-tasking and guys generally arnt good at. You can do the same thing with ankle weights go for a walk around the block with them and then take them off and walk back in your house. They feel kind of light, you just tricked your muscles the feeling will wear off. Its called muscle memory. developing a nerve pathway has nothing to do with the added weight, you could punch that bag 1000 times without the weighted gloves and have the same nerve training as you would if you punched it 1000 times with the weighed gloves. If you kept punching with the weighted gloves over a period of say 6 weeks you would put on some muscle and hit harder however always punching with weighted gloves isnt always good because your muscle memory will get acustomed to the added weight and your punches will be off, but after a few days the muscle memory will have adapted and you will still have the added muscle and still hit harder. Also if your punching with a weight in your hand or gripping something even hand wraps you will hit harder, as the human hand is designed for holding on to things not punching. The phalanges & metacarpals do not line up with the bones in your forearm with a empty fist you can notice that the first knucle sticks out further then the rest now if you fill that space in your hand, with say a roll of quarters the phalanges & metacarpals, are in fact now in a perfect line with the two forearm bones.. the Radius & Ulna. You have just made a much more effective striking tool.
KaratekaAikidoist Posted October 13, 2003 Posted October 13, 2003 I believe ki is just an internal energy force that all human have, but not all can use.
shotokanwarrior Posted November 5, 2003 Posted November 5, 2003 I think it is life, our life energy. Where Art ends, nature begins.
