telsun
Speed will add power. Drive the hip through when you punch. Shoulders low. Push with your back foot to get all your bodyweight behind it. Develop strength in your tanden. Practice punching the bag or makiwara profusely. Punch through the target not just the surface. Get a good instructor to go through your technique with you. Good one to one instruction is your best route. Helped? I keep asking God what I'm for and he tells me........."gee I'm not sure!"
StoneSkin
Hmm this in the internal arts secton so I would assume youd want some sort of chi to enhance your punches. I dont know how to do this. However... I recomend the development of the chest ,triceps and front deltoids. Do lots of push ups, and bench presses. I like using a heavy weight for bench pressing with one or 2 rep sets with long periods of rest they will help you develop explosiveness. There is no substatute for a heavy punching bag though. throw punch after punch after punch untill you cant lift your arms. Do this for 6 months and I guarantee you will hit harder. There are also some iron palm techniques that could help you but I dont know much of this either.
telsun
Ooops!! I didn't notice that it is the internal arts section. Very limited knowledge on internal arts. Try developing your tanden via breathing exercises and chishi. I keep asking God what I'm for and he tells me........."gee I'm not sure!"
JerryLove
Yes, there are a slew of external answers that come to mind to me as well; and the suggestions made are good. Looking internally, of course relaxation (which adds speed and connects more weight)... learning to drive punches from the ground is useful as well (as are tricks like stomping). There are some tricks from a qi perspective; but I'm guessing if you would understand how to do them from me mentioning them, you would probibly have already figured out their effects https://www.clearsilat.com
