ad Posted July 1, 2003 Posted July 1, 2003 i am currently in a exchange program where i will be staying in orange county for several weeks. And since many of you have said that you can find great martial art training in the usa rather than going to china, i thought maybe you knew of some people who i can contact for training in either orange county or central los angeles if you do please reply or pm me thank you Brown Sash Hsing I/Lau Gar Kung FuBrown Belt San Shou17 yr oldhttp://www.selfdefencehelp.co.uk
Pacificshore Posted July 1, 2003 Posted July 1, 2003 Orange county, let alone Los Angeles county are both rather large. Perhaps the best thing to do is look up the yellow pages on-line or when you get here to find the numerous studios available. If you know the city in Orange county you'll be living in, then try the martialinfo.com site. I know that Demura Sensei is in orange county, I think his dojo is in Anaheim, but that could be miles from the city you are going to be living in, plus there's traffic to contend with, knowing the freeway system. There's also Bob White's American Kenpo school in Costa Mesa, another city in OC, these are but a very few I am familiar with in that area. There are certainly many other schools in OC, plus it will also depend on what you are looking to train in. In L.A., you can find the Inosanto Academy which is somewhere near LAX area, plus the Krav Maga HQ, in West L.A., and many more other places. But OC and L.A. county can be again miles apart, and the L.A. traffic is simply horrid if caught at the wrong time................which really there is never any good time to be on any LA freeway Di'DaDeeeee!!!Mind of Mencia

Pacificshore Posted July 2, 2003 Posted July 2, 2003 I took a look on martialinfo.com with the zip code you provided. It only showed 3 schools listed in your particular area. One was West Coast Academy, but no style listed, the other was Steve Amsler Martial Arts Center-TKD, Tai Chi, Yoga, and the last was the Thunder Center-Self Defense and Escrima. If I'm not mistaken, you are close to the cities of Westminster, Huntington Beach to the west, and Santa Ana and Aneheim to the east. You could try checking for other schools there. I know that the Dog Brothers(Eskrima) are out of Huntington Beach. As far as what they would charge or what not, I think you'll just have to call them and explain your situation and see what they have to say. Good luck in your search, hopefully you'll be able to get some training time in while you are here. Di'DaDeeeee!!!Mind of Mencia
karatekid1975 Posted July 2, 2003 Posted July 2, 2003 Hiya. I did a search on another MA search engine I use with a 20 mile radius from the above zip code. Here's what I came up with: http://www.blackbelts.ca/fma Doesn't mention the style (unless I over looked it). http://www.tangsoodosites.com/lbtsda Tang Soo Do Red Dragon Karate 2983 Chino Ave. Ste. A-7 Chino Hills, CA 91709 Doesn't mention style. That's three more for ya to look at Laurie F

jmd161 Posted July 3, 2003 Posted July 3, 2003 Well if you were going to be there longer i would speak to my sihing in cali, but for a few weeks he would'nt take the time. It's not a knock against you. It's just that everyone in our style of Black Tiger is picky as to who we share our style with. Hak Fu Moon is very rare and we want to keep it pure. You might have seen the articles he's written for Kung Fu Qigong and Inside Kung Fu Magazines? The latter has an article in this months edition written by him. jeff The Basics Are The Hidden Secret To Kung Fu Master The Basics.
