Okay guys & gals. You're keen martial artists, obviously. But are your partners?

When it's time for that week away training session or another competition, how do you convince them that this is not just another social event, but an historical moment in your martial arts history?

Do you have to bribe them (keep it clean please!!!)?

Lets hear your reasons for training so much. My begging for a few weeks is becoming hard work and bribery is very costly.

I keep asking God what I'm for and he tells me........."gee I'm not sure!"

I have explained my partner what the martial arts mean to me. Okay, it wasn't that simple. It took a year and a half for her to understand it. I took it light at first, but kept my head. She said "c'mon, come there with me" and I just said "no, this is important to me, I've been doing this for ten years and I have been really looking forward to this event'". Then eventually she's become more interested in the thing I am so passionate about and I've told her what it's all about.

PS. I do sometimes say "Okay, If I can go to this event, I'll watch the kid so you can go somewhere too on some night", so I do bribe her occacionally, but she knows how important the stuff is to me so she is quite flexible on these issues. :)

My wife respects my love of MA. Since I've returned to it my attitude towards life has improved dramatically. So I imagine once it becomes even more time consuming she'll support it 100% since she knows what it means to me.

Besides that, she likes to watch competitions (that I'm in, which has only ever been 1 lol).

my wife isnt into the martial arts too much, no where close to as much as me....well i told her when we got married that martial arts was my life, so if she wanted me she had to except me for who i was, a martial artist, and what i do, martial arts and lots of training. So she doesn't have a problem with it, i go to the dojo and she works out near by in the gym, we both work out at the same time and area yet not in the same rooms, the current dojo is located in a large military gym complex

That which does not destroy me will only make me stronger
