TJS Posted June 30, 2003 Posted June 30, 2003 but do you think WingCung cant use legs as efficiently? a rising knee can contact the face of a low charging opponent much faster than 2 hands can controll a fast rising knee if he was a world champion wrestler then it would be unlikely the WC guy could avoid a double leg takedown.
Kirves Posted June 30, 2003 Posted June 30, 2003 Remember that the WC guy knew wrestling too. And that the WC style was WT which has its infamous "anti-grappling". And that the video clip seen was a promo-demo.

Also, even if someone connected with a knee it doesn't mean that it will knock the shooter out. Oh, and by lifting your knee you've just put yourself on one leg, so you've lost a solid base and the momentum behind the shoot means you're going to end up on the ground anyway. Treebranch Posted July 1, 2003 Posted July 1, 2003 Well it's not impossible to avoid a double leg take down you know. I do agree it's one of the scariest situations to be in, when a wrestler shoots in at your legs. They are determined enough to sacrifice themselves to shooting in, they mean business. But you can usually tell a grappler right off, so keep your distance. I personally wouldn't knee or try to kick a grappler as he shoots in, very bad idea. Sprawl or drop him on his head. TJS Posted July 1, 2003 Posted July 1, 2003 exactly..sprawl and then work from there. to many people belive they can stop someone with strikes before they close the distance...very unlikely.
Treebranch Posted July 1, 2003 Posted July 1, 2003 There are some strikes depending on how effective at striking you are, that can at least stun someone long enough so you can get out of the way. I've noticed that most people panic when you shoot in on them. If you move and drop low onto one knee with your back straight and strike to the nose or lower jaw it should stun or drop the person. It's risky, but he won't get your legs and dump you on your head. Stold Posted July 2, 2003 Posted July 2, 2003 If you throw the knee you should prepare for a sprawl immediately afterwards, as there's an 80% chance that the knee won't stop him. One time I was sparring my wrestling buddy and caught him with a knee as he shot then sprawled a quarter of a second later. I was laying ontop of him and he was out cold.
