ninjanurse Posted June 29, 2003 Posted June 29, 2003 I believe "5 animals" refer to a Northern Shao Lin style of kung fu, one of which is called Nam Pai Chuan. They base their style on 5 animals. I do not know them off hand but they can be easily found on the internet. Red J Posted June 29, 2003 Posted June 29, 2003 The most popular animals or the most referred to "five" are the Tiger, Crane, Dragon, Leopard, and Snake. They can be found in many MAs, especially Chinese based systems. Other lesser known animals are the monkey, mantis, eagle, and a few others. Try the internet search as suggested by Ninjanurse. I had to lose my mind to come to my senses.
ahgao Posted June 29, 2003 Posted June 29, 2003 The 5 animal is not a style by its name but is adpoted by many southern art. Take the art of Hung Gar Kuen, "5 animal fist" is one of the basic routine. Dragon, Snake, Tiger, Leopard and Crane are the main 5. Than follow with 10 animal - the other 5 => Lion, Elephant, Horse, Monkey and Panter. Some other family uses different animal forms too...
