brickshooter Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 When I say competing as professional boxers, I mean actually doing it at a high level. I don't consider having 4 professional matches like Pulver, or serving as a sparing partner for MMA fighters as doing professional boxing at a high level.
MMA_Jim Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 After a certain point alot of it becomes sport specific and you end up learning and utilizing techniques that arent as great of use in a real fight (sugar footing, bobbing and weaving, etc).In order to compete at a high level in boxing, one would have to devote all of their training to boxing, cage fighting experience or not. Most MMA fighters simply dont have that desire. Most instead will do muay thai fights as the similarities and usefullness is greater.
Lee M Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 we'll never know and thats why the legend of Bruce is so big - he would have adapted and been good in any era because of his evolutionary thinking. martial arts training boxing for the streetstreet boxing
