HulkHogan Posted June 27, 2003 Posted June 27, 2003 Hi Im fairly new here but i had a few questions ive been tryign to learn what this chi stuff is all about. Ive been hearing its an internal energy that is in everything. Mostly it comes from with in yourself and from your center. Now could this jsut be a bad translation. Just a theory. Like say for example Kung Fu, Bruce Lee first used the term Kung Fu to describe his methods of combat. From what I understand Kung Fu means intense training. There for a medical student would require lots of Kung Fu to become a doctor. So just guessing but your centre is your abdominal and pelvic region. So is it possible that this energy just comes from the twisiting of the abdominals and hips. "you have to get your hip into it" Bruce Lee- Return of the Dragon Martial Arts Experience-learning a form of jujutsuThis is for all you Hulkamaniacs out there!
granmasterchen Posted June 27, 2003 Posted June 27, 2003 i think those are two different things one is an internal universal energy that takes work to learn how to sense and feel and even more work to control and focus, the twisting the hips sounds like pivoting to me, so that is just adding extra power by means of momentum to your attack. This is if i understood what you are trying to say. That which does not destroy me will only make me stronger
DarkClyde Posted June 29, 2003 Posted June 29, 2003 No internal energy isn't a misinterpretation. It's unlikely that every translator translated the same thing wrong and for years and years. That's something though, I've never heard that before. As far as what Chi is, it's a less powerful more logical and believable version of the force in Star Wars or in DBZ. Take out the fact that it doesn't have to be entertaining or make money or be overexagerated and that's pretty close or at least something like real Chi/Ki. "It's quite interesting..."

Qi/Chi/Ki *translates* as "breath"As far as what Chi is, it's a less powerful more logical and believable version of the force in Star Wars or in DBZ. Interesting argument considering that these two shows offer entirely different examples of "mystical forces". https://www.clearsilat.com
