Shotokan_Fighter Posted July 7, 2003 Posted July 7, 2003 tkd vs shotokan shotokan hands down , id much rather take up shotokan karate than tkd. ahotokan is better for fighting (self defense). i have beaten a tkdist at our local tkd club. but that dosent mean shotokan is better, that just ment i was a better fighter. tkd does to many fancy kicks that wont work well in the street, they work better in the ring. Treebranch Posted July 8, 2003 Posted July 8, 2003 Shotokan, I studied TKD and it's got too many holes and relies too much on high kicks. How high is high enough. Looks pretty though. monkeygirl Posted July 8, 2003 Posted July 8, 2003 Just keep in mind the guidlines when asking this question. Anything other than how they are similar or different and this thread risks being closed. Considering Doug's warning, and how most of the replies in this thread have been about which would win in a fight, I'm going to close this thread.
