TJS Posted June 26, 2003 Posted June 26, 2003 If your Goal is an effective standup fighting stlye that is.
kle1n Posted June 26, 2003 Author Posted June 26, 2003 u think that mt is more effective than wc? Be everything. Be nothing.
sansoouser Posted June 26, 2003 Posted June 26, 2003 doesn't wing chun rely more on punches and muy thai on kicks? So if thats the case it would depend on which you liked better but eventually to be a complete fighter if thats what you want you would need to take kicking too. The amateur shoots his hands out ferociously, but lacks any true power. A master is not so flamboyant, but his touch is as heavy as a mountain.
monkeygirl Posted June 26, 2003 Posted June 26, 2003 Please provide details to support your points and opinions. 1st dan & Asst. Instructor TKD 2000-2003No matter the tune...if you can rock it, rock it hard.
TJS Posted June 27, 2003 Posted June 27, 2003 Sure..I think MT is more effective because A) MT and WC have had Challenge matches in the past and it was usally dominated by MT fighters...in a bad way B) MT fighters have been willing to put it on the line for the last 50 years against top fighters all over the world and usually come out on top C) MT dominates mixed Standup events like K-1 Kickboxing. D) MT is the standup training meathod of choice by just about every top MMA/NHB FIght team in the world(Brazilian top team, Chute box, millitech, etc) F) MT has been able to transition into todays NHB fighting and many of todays top chmpion use it to win..this is something WC never has been able to do. E) MT fighters generally learn quicker and they are usally tough as nails. F) I have heard some stories from varios people about WC and MT fighters mixing it up... thats it just off the top of my head.. Im really not trying to bash WC..i think it's a cool stlye and would work against your avg joe..I just dont think it works against A trained fighter very well.
kle1n Posted June 27, 2003 Author Posted June 27, 2003 so you recommend mixing MT with WC? Be everything. Be nothing.
