Generally they are not worn except at association events. (AKA candy cane conventions )he never said thats why he did it. but i know him, and i know better than to ask. im just dyeing for information, So ask... and i would LOVE to see him kumite, not against a student but one of his level. Many TMA instructors won't spar in front of their students. Unless you see him do it in class regularly he probably doesn't do it, so it might not be that impressive.
