White Warlock
Protection, pants. The protection functions 'as' the underwear. "When you are able to take the keys from my hand, you will be ready to drive." - Shaolin DMV TestIntro

Shane
I agree groin protection is a must. There has been several times I'm glad I have it on just holding thai pads hahahaha and I'm not kidding. Another thing holding leg kick shields for low thai kicks its nice to have one because the vibration alone hurts like hell A True Martial Arts Instructor is more of a guide than anything, on your way to developing the warrior within yourself!!!!! 47MartialMan
Never had it until it was mandated in tournaments. And such, never had it outside of tournaments. Except for ONE incident.... After a tournament, I forgot to remove it. I went to visit a friend whom had a bunch of females at his house........ Well, now I will let your imagination take over. x-women
Well, regardless of how much it may hurt, it still puts you at risk for impotency and possibly cancer, so I wouldn't mess around with it if I were a guy. Ahhh it's times like these that I'm glad I'm NOT a guy Ok monkey girl I know we women can receve serious injury to our groins too.A sharp point jab in the lower abs can hit and jar an ovary and can bruse it to.Or Like how I was kicked once in the past and I was in absolute agony and I had a (VULVA HEMATOMA) for 4 days!I don't mean to scare you but.... At a more serious level I have seen cases of when women who had a (INTERAPERITONEAL RUPTURE) of bladder, and/or internal female organs caused by a blunt kick into the vulva. When this happens you may be in the severest of pain, trauma, shock, or even unconsious. It is deady situation needing emergancy medical attention!!! So females who spar/full contact obviously should wear groin protection!!!!
Cybren
One thing i'll have to remark about groin cups...Make sure it's the right size. Let's just say, sometimes a good kick can knock something out of the cup. Now let's say you get another good kick...and now you just made an icecream topping... crushed nuts. Does this make anyone else feel queezy? Personally, it only took one time early in my training... I have never gone without one since... Student: "Why did you hit that guy with a chair? Why didn't you use your karate?"Master: "Hitting him with a chair was the only karate I could think of at the time."Lesson: Practice until you don't have to think.
