It shoudn't matter. Karate is karate, the differences though they be many are superficial.

Mind, body and fist. Its all a man truly needs.

I just read something at https://www.street-self-defense.com/ ... do you think anything what they say is (partial) true ? I mean I won't ever believe that I can teach myself effective defence through watching videos but I mean the first part ... that "traditional styles" are not effective .... there's also a quote form a student ("Having trained over 20 years in Uechi Ryu karate before coming to Mr. Pace, I had an extensive background in self defense. I've learned more about street fighting tactics in the last two years than in my 20 years of prior training." ). If this statement is real then he must have definitely done somthing wrong, hasn't he?

karate is mixed with a lot of sport and traditions. That guy probably just went to the dojo and kicked air instead of putting in the thought to ask himself would this work. Its a thing many karateka do, learn the stuff for grading yet forget to take everything with a truckload of salt.

Mind, body and fist. Its all a man truly needs.
