In martial arts you may have idols like in anything, such as Bruce Lee, Chuck Norris, Jet Li, Jackie Chan etc. etc. but you should not strive to become them you should try to become yourself and be the best you can be, falling short of them isn't a failure think of it as challenge to keep going, BUT NEVER TRY TO BE THEM. You may want to learn their style but don't try to imitate them. Be as a tranquil pool of water in the woods. Calm, collected, reflecting on its surface all that is around it. Make your own mind such a quiet mirror reflecting the mind of the opponent. Even as your partner's impulse to attack passes through his mind it should be reflected in you.The safest battle is the one that is never fought
