broomhilda000 Posted June 20, 2003 Posted June 20, 2003 Which technique do you think would work the best in a street fight? Or combine them all? Be as a tranquil pool of water in the woods. Calm, collected, reflecting on its surface all that is around it. Make your own mind such a quiet mirror reflecting the mind of the opponent. Even as your partner's impulse to attack passes through his mind it should be reflected in you.The safest battle is the one that is never fought
granmasterchen Posted June 20, 2003 Posted June 20, 2003 a combination of them all, because it depends on the situation, the environment, and the individual that is threatening you. That which does not destroy me will only make me stronger
G95champ Posted June 20, 2003 Posted June 20, 2003 Depends how and where you are being attacked. (General George S. Patton Jr.) "It's the unconquerable soul of man, and not the nature of the weapon he uses, that ensures victory."
karate_woman Posted June 20, 2003 Posted June 20, 2003 I still haven't seen a reference anywhere to what you consider a Street Fight, for someone who posts so often about them! I agree with the other posters; it depends. The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step. -Lao-Tse
Kirves Posted June 20, 2003 Posted June 20, 2003 If you can stop him from kicking range, then do it. If he get's to punching range, and you can stop him with a punch, then do it. If he gets closer than that and you can stop him with a throw, then throw him. If you have to wrestle with him on the ground then do it. You have to be able to handle yourself in all the ranges if real life self defence is your concern.

Pacificshore Posted June 22, 2003 Posted June 22, 2003 I think they would all work just as many have stated. But lest not forget the 3A's: Awareness, Avoidance, Action if all else fails Di'DaDeeeee!!!Mind of Mencia
mtmaniac Posted June 22, 2003 Posted June 22, 2003 I say punches are the most effective weapon in a streetfight. It's easier to maintain your balance, you can throw them faster than you can kick or knee, most people don't know how to defend them ( this may apply to all techniques though), If you know some combos you can easily overwhelm a untrained and inexperienced combatant.
Jade_Lotus Posted June 23, 2003 Posted June 23, 2003 Every situation will be different from the next, and thusly dictating a different response. Any one of those can be used effectively. I'd say whichever one is most efficient for the situation at hand. Which could mean using all of them and then some. No one thing will work 100% of the time. Understand this, a man without honor, is not a man at all, but a coward in disquise.Animis Opibusque Parati
