How often do YOU personally drink alcohol?

I drink mead everynow and again, mainly at religious functions(kind of required). But I never get drunk. I grew up in an alcoholic environment so I have my reservations.

Besides, it costs too much to get me drunk.

Oo! Mead... isn't that similar to whiskey? Ish. I read a lot of fantasy books and they're always drinking mead, but I've never heard of it in modern reality. ie: I know that it's a Celtic drink, but that's about it. :D

I think it is a honey beer.

Mead is honey wine. It is supposedly the oldest known alcoholic beverage. It's kinda sweet, a bit more potent than wine from grapes due to more sugar avalible for fermentaion, and takes a bit of getting used to.

I only drink now and then and rarely more than a few beers. I do like whisky and gin though...

Also, my roomates brother turned 21 last month so I sat him down for One bourbon, one scotch, one beer. Thought some of you might appriciate that.

I used too drink most nights until i was pretty drunk - a university social thing. Now i dont drink anywhere near that and its either at weekends or every now and then. This i suspect is partly due to me wanting to get fitter, and not let it impinge on what i do, and partly because im bored of it. I think i may have grown out of it......finally!!

The drinks I drink have changed also, from beer and spirits to wine and alcopops!!!

I seem to have lost my taste for a lot of alcohol. I still do enjoy wine and good sake (which is very hard to get in the US). Therefore (in addition to trying to be very healthy) I usually do not drink much. There have been a few occasions where I have drank far too much, but in those situations I have only acted a little silly, but I've always had enough self-control to ensure that I didn't do anything I regretted.
