Wado Guy Posted June 19, 2003 Posted June 19, 2003 I drink with the intention of getting a good buzz about once every 4 months. I'm not much of a drinker anymore. College broke me of that Been there, done that, got the t-shirt. When I do drink, it's usually at home on a weekend when I have nothing to do but be lazy in front of the tv and enjoy The King of Beers.
Guitar_lover Posted June 19, 2003 Posted June 19, 2003 I drink now and then. PEACE AND LOVE."When the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace"
CheekyMusician Posted June 19, 2003 Posted June 19, 2003 Well I'll be 18 in a few weeks (the legal age to drink here), but I intend to be a tee-totaller. I go to church and we have communion about once every 4 months and we have wine, so I drink that, but its just one of those tiny communion cups that holds about quarter of a mouthfull. I would actually rather they used fruit juice instead of wine, 'cause I really don't like the taste of alcohol. Basically I don't want to drink because I don't like the taste of alcohol, and plus I've got a bit of an obsessive personality. I can't just do things in moderation. I've got to be obsessed with them and focus on them constantly, or not at all, and I wouldn't want to turn into an alcoholic, so I think I'm better just avoiding it entirely. Smile. It makes people wonder what you've been up to.
Fenris-wolf Posted June 20, 2003 Posted June 20, 2003 This should probably be in health and fitness, I'm thinking... I've been trying not to drink in the name of being a better fighter, but I've given up on that one temporarily. I certainly won't be drinking anything for the last month or so before I fight though. karatekid1975 Posted June 20, 2003 Posted June 20, 2003 How about this: are you always able to behave when totally drunk, or do you ever regret being so drunk or behaving so badly when drunk? When I first started drinking (long before MA), no. I still drink, but I think MA changed me. I'm more calm in most situations. When I was attacked, I was drunk. But I was calm, and "level-headed" despite the alcohol. I used just enough force to get away. I didn't pumble the guy, eventhough I felt like it LOL. Laurie F
ZR440 Posted June 20, 2003 Posted June 20, 2003 One bourbon, one scotch, one beer. It's happy hour somewhere in the world.
SBN Doug Posted June 20, 2003 Posted June 20, 2003 (edited) One bourbon, one scotch, one beer."Well, I ain't seen my baby since the night before last." I usually have a Sam light at dinner. Up to three on a weekend night at home. I don't go out with the intention of getting drunk anymore. Past that phase I guess. I will get a little to buzzed if out for a long time with a group, but I always keep it to a point where I'm fully in control. Unless I'm sitty at home sippin' on some Yeungling's. ZR, I hope I stop getting so many chances to use this line. Edited June 20, 2003 by SBN Doug Kuk Sool Won - 4th danEvil triumphs when good men do nothing.
ZR440 Posted June 20, 2003 Posted June 20, 2003 I'm changing the oil on my truck later to drive out there tomorrow. Too bad I only have a 6' long bed. It's happy hour somewhere in the world.
Pepparoo Posted June 20, 2003 Posted June 20, 2003 Some people feel a martial artist should never drink alcohol. One famous karate master said, he doesn't trust a man who can't control himself with a little alcohol. Some of us drink occasionally. What's your personal story, how do you view and use alcohol? No ideals here, but reality, how often and how drunk do you get? Remember, some of the best warriors like guys in the military are drunk just about every week, so there's no shame in speaking the truth. Just a quick survey. Paah I'm drinking right now hehe ye I like to have a drink at least once, or twice a week. My favorite liquor being JD. But thats just drinking as opposed to getting drunk. I don't get drunk as much as I used too, just merry. And there's nothing wrong with martial artists getting drunk. What about all this Drunken style kung fu.. and it was Bruce Lee that invented the Drunken Snake style... man that film rooled!
