I was told today...

by one of my TKD Friends that when we spar If I fight dirty(punching to the Head) then he will KO me with a Kick to the forehead...

Would You consider Punching to the Head with 16oz gloves dirty fighting?

Yeah, when sparring across arts, everybody needs to agree upon which rules, if any, will be observed. I can't imagine he wouldn't want to include head strikes in that kind of environment, esspecially withbig gloves.

Are you guys wearing head gear too? I could understand not wanting face strikes, but nothing to the head????

That just sounds like nerves talking. Look at his response to you. He's either half joking or a bit nervous. Just agree on rules before you begin and if he doesn't want punches to the head now, bring them in at a later time, say 2nd or 3rd time you spar. He'll come around and probably even thank you for helping him grow as a fighter.

Well, if you happen to punch him in the head, at least you'll be ready for the high kick :D

I think you should respect your sparring partner and stick to whatever rules yo decide on before hand. Sparring is used to learn and practice...not dominate and defeat. If you want to spar at a higher skill level find someone who feels likewise. Then use the opportunity with your friend to bring his skill level and confidence up by coaching and encouraging. Also keep in mind that WTF rules do not allow punching to the head. :)
