Chris-san,

Go to Amazon.com and take a search for the book "Nunchaku: Karate Weapon of Self-Defense with Video" by Fumio Demura-shihan. The book and video combination are priced as:

List Price: US$35.95

Amazon Price: US$28.76

You Save: US$7.19 (20%)

Demura-shihan is a Shito-Ryu practitioner if it matters.

Good luck.

Nunchaku eh? Now thats something I know.

The guy was right, Fumio Demura produces great books, but for videos, and man called Mikio Nishiuchi is the guy.

Before you start the nunchaku you need to figure out one thing - which style?

I practice the nunchaku as part of the Okinawan Kobudo syllabus, but Fumio Demura practices the Japanese style. The moves are the same, but as far as I know the three katas taught in Okinawan kobudo are not taught bu Demura.

Thats all I know, as I've been doing nunchaku for about 2years now, and I will be going for my next grade in Okinawan KObudo soon.

The Filipinno Martial arts has some great nunchaku techniques. In fact, Dan Inosanto taught Bruce Lee the nunchaku from the Kali system. It's really cool, see if you can find a qualified Kali instructor and ask if he's any good with the nunchaku. Chances are, you'll get a greater in-depth knowledge of all the ways to use nunchaku not just for striking, but for chokes, locks and grappling as well.

Although i like the nunchaku i would not futher my knowledge in them... they are impracticle for use on the street... i tend to prefer learning street defense with the jo or bo (varying stick sizes) as that would be more helpful....
