yireses Posted June 10, 2003 Posted June 10, 2003 Was Bruce Lee really that good??? Or just famous? Did any body ever kick he but strait and fair? Can we compare Bruce Lee with Wong Fei Hong, The knowing of Violence and living in no violence brings peace.Shaolin Chuan Fa
paolung Posted June 10, 2003 Posted June 10, 2003 let me turn it around on you. was wfh really that good? who can know? my own personal opinion is that the legend of wfh is greatly exaggerated. his father was of considerably higher skill than he was, but wfh is sort of the 'poster boy' for hung kuen. so, was he the best then? not likely. most famous? definately. bruce lee is probably simliar... not necessarily the best, but certainly the most famous. Drunken Monkey Posted June 11, 2003 Posted June 11, 2003 i think wong fei hung had it relatively easy. after all, his dad had organised much of the school and training already. he was only better than most because he was learning from a much younger age. i feel once again that i might have trodden on a great many toes. apologies in advance. post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
paolung Posted June 11, 2003 Posted June 11, 2003 nah, i think you're right to a certain extent. wfh basically organized and consolidated much of hung gar as we know it now, but as you said he had the benefit of great masters to learn from. his father was one of the original "10 tigers" who were known throughout the land as south china's greatest fighters. if you put this in perspective, it means wfh got to train with some of the greatest fighters of his time. combined with (as you said) training from childhood, we can begin to see why wfh was considered such a great martial artist... and to think, he was probably nowhere NEAR his father's level. Drunken Monkey Posted June 11, 2003 Posted June 11, 2003 well, his dad was trained by the great lok ah choi as well... post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
Treebranch Posted June 12, 2003 Posted June 12, 2003 I've been trying to find out how many matches Bruce Lee fought and won. I can't find any info, can anyone help. In my opinion, I personally don't regard him as the greatest Martial Artist that ever lived. Bruce Lee was the most famous MA that ever lived. yireses Posted June 12, 2003 Author Posted June 12, 2003 ((Ed Parker kicked his ass on a regular basis... But that's Ed Parker)) When did that happen? The knowing of Violence and living in no violence brings peace.Shaolin Chuan Fa
SandanPJ Posted June 12, 2003 Posted June 12, 2003 Bruce Lee would come to Parker quite often to see if some techs were legit. Many who saw them go at it, said Lee got his ass kicked the majority of the time.
Drunken Monkey Posted June 12, 2003 Posted June 12, 2003 and were all of the witnesses ed parker affilliates? post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
