Kirves Posted June 17, 2003 Posted June 17, 2003 It's all a matter of opinion. That is the smartest thing said in this thread!
Icetuete Posted June 17, 2003 Author Posted June 17, 2003 a lot smarter than this style bashing... this was not planned to be one more "what is the best self-defense martial art" or something because there r already too many of them... before i start writing long essays on my point again i better close the forum, because i made myself clear enough on the first page of this thread...!
Drunken Monkey Posted June 17, 2003 Posted June 17, 2003 i don't think there's much point in replying to muay thai fighter anymore. all he keeps saying is that everything else is rubbish except pankration which he insists on being a mix of muay thai and bjj. he says that whatever i say doesn't matter to him because i've only ever practised "traditional" arts. i'll just be wasting time answering him. every post he has made, in my opinion has just been insulting to other styles. post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
Treebranch Posted June 17, 2003 Posted June 17, 2003 I agree FTGU. "It is easier to find men who will volunteer to die, than to find those who are willing to endure pain with patience.""Lock em out or Knock em out"
RAZOR Posted June 18, 2003 Posted June 18, 2003 OK I agree to but as i do Muay Thai I have a question for MuayThai Fighter. Where is this link between Thai Boxing and Pankration 2000 years ago or whatever. Before the Romans I think he is getting it wrong.
kajukenbo dad Posted June 18, 2003 Posted June 18, 2003 the hard part about being a bartender is figuring out who is drunk and who is just stupid......and that the same as a street fighter!!!!!!!!!!!! Good Luck Practice is the best of all instructors...
SaiFightsMS Posted June 18, 2003 Posted June 18, 2003 Just remember to respect each other and their art. Watch the bashing replies.
kajukenbo dad Posted June 18, 2003 Posted June 18, 2003 Sorry....if it came off that way......Good Luck Practice is the best of all instructors...
Treebranch Posted June 18, 2003 Posted June 18, 2003 PRANKration is basically a MMA with a cool name. True Ancient Greek Prankation is a lost Art. Doesn't mean this New "Prankration" is not effective, but it is obvisiously has some good marketing in its favour. Westerners will take to it quicker and it sounds exotic. Anyway getting back to the topic. Sometimes untrained people can be scary to fight. Some people have this wildness that is unpredictable, and merely trading punches might be a big mistake. Never underestimate a person on the street. Good luck. Icetuete Posted June 18, 2003 Author Posted June 18, 2003 thanks for returning to the topic any training is better than no training, whether it is prankration, Muay Thai or whatever "traditional" art.
