goedikey Posted June 7, 2003 Posted June 7, 2003 WTF ? I am just starting Karate and have been struggling with some issues of my own and have just decided that I would head back tomorrom until... Someone got killed by a punch on the torso today at a Dojo near my place ! This is scary stuff and makes me wonder if I should pursue this. I understand that there are "some" risks but never thought it could be that much... Does this happen often ?
goedikey Posted June 7, 2003 Author Posted June 7, 2003 some developments of tis thread can be found in the Karate Forum.
Karateka_latino Posted June 7, 2003 Posted June 7, 2003 What? In all the years i have been involved in the M.A. here in Panama, i haven't heard of any of person been killed on the Dojo during a training. I don't think that's even a common thing. Sad, really Sad. but not common. But don't let that stop for training. I mean, more people are dead on driving accidents, will that stop you from driving your car??.
mikS Posted June 7, 2003 Posted June 7, 2003 It is possible that the person killed had a medical condition that made him very susceptible to impact to the chest. It is also possible that the impact occured during the tiny TINY amount of time the heart is vulnerable to impact force. This is why people die from being hit in the chest with a baseball. And PLEASE, no one tell me i do not kno wwhat i am talking about, because i do.
SaiFightsMS Posted June 7, 2003 Posted June 7, 2003 There is a thread going on this topic in the karate area. Please direct all responses to that one.
