Drunken Monkey Posted June 12, 2003 Posted June 12, 2003 so i take it your wrist drops slightly as you turn into wu sau... ok another variation to add the notes post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
pvwingchun Posted June 12, 2003 Author Posted June 12, 2003 Looking at it slowly it does somewhat but only very slightly. I think it more a movement from the natural rotation of the wrist. As I huen down slightly and then to the outside yes it does go down slightly. How do you do it? Wing Chun Kuen Alliancehttps://www.wing-chun.us
Drunken Monkey Posted June 13, 2003 Posted June 13, 2003 the line drawn by the wrist is near as much horizntal all the way (incidentally, at heart level), back and forwards. even during the huen sau and the "drop" into fook sau, the wrist remains on the line. another little question, when you draw back the wu sau, where do you move your elbow to? post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
pvwingchun Posted June 13, 2003 Author Posted June 13, 2003 That one is hard to explain. Keeping a safe elbow distance it goes from center in somewhat of an arc to the side. If that makes any sense . The elbow is the source of the movement. I don't know if that is uderstandable it is easier to look at than explain. Wing Chun Kuen Alliancehttps://www.wing-chun.us
Drunken Monkey Posted June 14, 2003 Posted June 14, 2003 i know what you mean. i mean, have you tried to explain to someone that you concerntrate on the elbow moving and not the hand? post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
pvwingchun Posted June 14, 2003 Author Posted June 14, 2003 It is something that just clicks, we tell people one day the light will go on. Wing Chun Kuen Alliancehttps://www.wing-chun.us
Drunken Monkey Posted June 15, 2003 Posted June 15, 2003 something else just came to mind, do you guys use your thumbs when you grab/grip? cos we don't (to allow you to slip from chin na techniques) but a friend of mine says that they do cos it gives you a better hold. post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
pvwingchun Posted June 15, 2003 Author Posted June 15, 2003 thumbless. I tell students i am going to start bringing in duct tape and tape their thumb down so they can't use it. Basically the same reason as you stated plus we don't like to be that committed. For example if you lop someone and they pull back to counter the hand just slips off allowing you to continue forward where if you have grabbed with the thumb that quuick change of energy on your opponents behalf may throw you off or they can lock it up. Make sense? Wing Chun Kuen Alliancehttps://www.wing-chun.us
Drunken Monkey Posted June 16, 2003 Posted June 16, 2003 just what i wanted to hear. well, like i said, it almost counters most basic chin na techniques which is always a good thing. them things hurt like buggery! post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
