tnp101 Posted June 3, 2003 Posted June 3, 2003 I attended a seminar on Seipai and Saifa and I was totally lost. Does anyone know a link to download these katas from the web by any chance? I have looked around and I couldn't find any. If there is no VDO download, at least the posted sequence would be appreciated. Thank you very much for your help.
Karateka_latino Posted June 3, 2003 Posted June 3, 2003 I don't know, but if you find one, let me know, im interest as well.
monkeygirl Posted June 3, 2003 Posted June 3, 2003 I've never heard of Seipai or Saifa, so hopefully I found the right info: Video of Seipai - http://www.onthekenai.net/karate/ Written Instructions for Seipai - http://www.kyokushinkai.de/html/krte/kaku/seipai.html Google results for search "seipai" - http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=seipai Written instructions for Saifa - http://216.239.53.100/search?q=cache:53_krCPv8dYJ:www.missouri.edu/~gojuwww/Handouts/KATA/Saifa%2520Kata.pdf+saifa+kata&hl=en&ie=UTF-8 More written instructions, plus a brief background to Saifa - http://freespace.virgin.net/mike.clark/sodokan11.htm Nothing for Saifa yet, but will have some in the future when it's updated - http://www.ozwebart.com.au/kua/kata.htm Video clip of Saifa, may not be complete, but at least has a large chunk of the kata - http://www.tenshinryu.com/sifa4.mpg I hope those help! By the way, these are katas for karate, right? I saw some sites linking them to Goju-Ryu and Shotokan. Anyway, if someone could please confirm that, I will move this thread over to the Karate forum. 1st dan & Asst. Instructor TKD 2000-2003No matter the tune...if you can rock it, rock it hard.
tnp101 Posted June 3, 2003 Author Posted June 3, 2003 Thanks Monkeygirl! Although there are some variations in the katas on the links you posted, this really helps me to recall the sequences. The katas are for Karate Goju-Ryu style. Thanks again!
karate_woman Posted June 3, 2003 Posted June 3, 2003 Yes they are karate kata. Unfortunately you'll find more than one version out there. For example, Okinawan Goju and Japanese Goju each have a slightly different version of those kata, and even within the style you'll find some differences depending on which association the stylist is with.
