Drunken Monkey Posted May 29, 2003 Posted May 29, 2003 there are many reasons for training in martial arts, be it for health and fitness, learning how to fight or building confidence. this has always been one of the things that interests me. so please, feel free to ramble about your passion here. post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
monkeygirl Posted May 29, 2003 Posted May 29, 2003 Do you mean for this to apply only to practitioners of Chinese Arts? If you want it to apply to everyone, let me know and I'll move it. 1st dan & Asst. Instructor TKD 2000-2003No matter the tune...if you can rock it, rock it hard.

Drunken Monkey Posted June 1, 2003 Author Posted June 1, 2003 well, wanting to learn how to "kick ass" is not neccessarily a bad thing though is it. after all, only by learning how to do serious damage can you learn how NOT to do serious damage. but that's kinds the thing i was after. a lot of people would say for health and fitness or for self defence because of the stigma attached to violence (understandably of course). but as you learn, has your art really changed you? i was always under the belief that proper training can instill discipline in people but too many times i have seen aggressive students who see it as learning how to fight. is this just a bad student or is the teacher also to blame? to be honest i'm not sure what i'm really trying to ask. post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."

Drunken Monkey Posted June 2, 2003 Author Posted June 2, 2003 but why did you chose tkd in the first place? or even why did you chose to learn a martial art at all? what have you learnt? has it changed you at all? post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
