NFleischman Posted May 29, 2003 Posted May 29, 2003 I went to the dojo today and I signed up. Shito-Ryu is what we will be studying. My first class is on Saturday which is a beginner class, I'm very excited, wish me luck! By the way does anyone know about Shito-Ryu? Or does anyone else study it? Shito-Ryu Karate 3 Months Active Training
NFleischman Posted May 29, 2003 Author Posted May 29, 2003 I was just wondering what kind of techniques are involved and what it focuses on. Is it interesting to learn? Is it challenging? Shito-Ryu Karate 3 Months Active Training
XMartial Arts_FighterX Posted May 29, 2003 Posted May 29, 2003 Well some of the fundamentals are form, Balance and Center of Gravity, Power and Speed, Hip Coordination, Focus, Rhythm, timing and distance and good spirit. In shito-ryu you learn to do stances, blocks, kicks, thrusts, weapons -For example a person could attack you with a kick *you first could scoop block kick them *Second strike to ankle *Grab leg and strike with handknife *Finish by sweeping *And then strike to throat --you will be learning how to defend and disarm people and hurt them enough where..you can run away Shito-ryu is the oldest official blend in a recognized style of karate Yes I believe it is very interesting and chanllenging as long as you work hard at it
tommarker Posted May 29, 2003 Posted May 29, 2003 good luck with your first class, and I hope you've found something you want to stick with! I'm no longer posting here. Adios.
