Kirves Posted May 27, 2003 Posted May 27, 2003 Hi, I've often heard some (non-Kyokushin) people say that Kyokushin is only good for big and strong people. Being of average height and quite slim (read: thin), I'm curious. Does anyone here who has actually done Kyokushin (or any of the offshoots!) have comments (either from personal experience or having observed someone else) on this issue.
superleeds Posted May 27, 2003 Posted May 27, 2003 Its bullock's mate. If your a serious student Kyuoushin u will be strong. Read a book!
Sho-ju Posted May 28, 2003 Posted May 28, 2003 I always find the lighter guys are hard as nails. All bone and muscle. Shotokan's my background but we mix it up to kyokushin rules with throws and ground work and yes the lighter guys do very well.
Rich Posted May 29, 2003 Posted May 29, 2003 I remember a 100 person kumite recounted in which the guy testing was a small japanese fellow. he was up against large caucasian guys but he defeated all because his commitment, spirit, conditioning and technique were all good. You could do worse than follow him! rich
