Hi, I've often heard some (non-Kyokushin) people say that Kyokushin is only good for big and strong people. Being of average height and quite slim (read: thin), I'm curious. Does anyone here who has actually done Kyokushin (or any of the offshoots!) have comments (either from personal experience or having observed someone else) on this issue.

I always find the lighter guys are hard as nails. All bone and muscle. Shotokan's my background but we mix it up to kyokushin rules with throws and ground work and yes the lighter guys do very well.

I remember a 100 person kumite recounted in which the guy testing was a small japanese fellow. he was up against large caucasian guys but he defeated all because his commitment, spirit, conditioning and technique were all good.

You could do worse than follow him!

i went to watch my friend grading in Kyukushin (singapore branch)

i saw a smaller size fighter winning a bigger fighter

in life it is hard to find thing that u like and always dream of doing

and dedicate most of your time and hardwork into it.
