with thw WC guard.. with the open hand,

 

wouldn't it be easier to break your fingers if your pponent jabbed ryt through it??

well, the wing chun ready stance is NOT a guard.

 

it is simply to get your hands in the best position for defending your self. seeing as you are the one who will move your arm to intercept, you are not likely to stub your fingers.

 

if you look closely, the intercept movements in wing chun are all applied at an angle. even the mun sau for first form is actually applied at an angle despite it going straight forward.

post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are.

in that case is the kwun sau considered a guard? it is damn good at what it can cover against but absolutely rubbish for anything else UNLESS you change it.

 

by saying it is a guard, you are implying that it is an all purpose covering position with your hands.

 

while you CAN receive in the guard stance, it is just for that instant/interception/receive moment.

 

in that respect it isn't something you put up for guard like you do in boxing.

 

i purposely called it the "ready stance" to point out that it is primarily for that purpose, to ready yourself. in most situations you'd probably intercept with a tan sau anyway...
