im curious

 

i was at a tournament today with mixed styles and saw some awesome weapon demonstrations but i felt like i wanted to see weapon sparring

 

but i doubt there would be because of the injuries involved.

Yes

 

Fencing, Kendo, stick fighting, SCA.

 

You can spar any weapon you want, anyone doing weapons for functional value should be doing sparring. Most tournament forms competitions are an entirely different thing though, that is just for show.

what happens when in an art like kobudo they have very sharp weapons like machete, or in kali with the knives, or ninjutsu with the katana - i take it they'd armour up or have to have amazing control to spar without taking out limbs ?

it didnt look like star wars!? thanks for running my dream! :lol: what about sai? ever seen them spar? (yes, i know, im obessed with this weapon) i guess it would make more since though to go sai vs. bo or sai vs. sword than sai vs. sai
