It's all about creating space between you and your opponent. When you're on top of someone, you want to be in nice & tight on them, so it's the opposite for escaping. Use the floor as your friend, it's there to help you. Shrimp your hips, buck your hips, don't let them get settled - push on their head/neck/hips, etc.
