I think what's even more pathetic, than the idea of selling it, Is that someone will actually buy it. Now, that's sad.

As opposed to going to a McDojo and paying to get a belt and certificate that way? I've got no problems with this at all, it's just a piece of paper and has no bearing on a person's skills.

One thing I noticed the certificate just says "black belt" dan. Anyone in TKD ever get a "black belt" dan? I'd assume not? Why anyone would want one of these certificates? I've heard of "honorary" black belts being given out under some circumstances, but that is different.

Well, you get what you pay for :D Even practicing martial artists have a heck of a time with people who find out they are a black belt, and sometimes are given impromtu "defend yourself" situations; I pity the poor fool who goes bragging they are a black belt in TKD and encounters one of those yahoos who wants them to prove it!

we don't have any belts or grades or anything. but we all know who is good and who is better. we are like a family where we are all brothers and sisters.

guess that's one diffrence between a chinese style and the others...

Thats so funny. What's the price of cardboard per tonne in the US?

I suppose you do get people who pay over $100 for a BB grading and only get a cheap belt and certificate to show for it!

Bargain, i'll take 2

Does anyone really think a person who is a 6th Dan in Karate-Do (which seems real fishy - what exactlky is "Karate-Do") and a 7th degree Master of TKD would ever actually perform such a deplorable act as sell a Dan Certificate.

I HIGHLY doubt this guy can back up his credentials. And seeing as he sells dan certfificates I would be speculative about any certificate he produces.

For a mild explanation of the origin of the name karate-do, look at my post in the karate section entitled "Chinese Hand Arts vs Empty Hand Way"

I think that is how you link to it...

Edit:I realize now that you may have been referring to the vagueness of the credential, not the actual name itself. But if you were talking about karate-do...hope it helps.
