  1. 1. Your opinion on chi/ki

    • Nothing about chi is real

    • Chi can be explained scientifically, its all about manipulating your nervous system and is grounded on physical principles

    • Chi is a deeply spiritual/mystical force and has effects that transcend the physical world and can manipulate it

well, hate to be a pain cos i can see this turning into a very heated debate (we seem to cross paths regarding this subject a lot).

just like to point out:

you say that you found a lot and that you missed a lot.

not very conclusive.

still seems kinda hit and miss.

just out of curiosity, what is your martial art history?

post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are.

Not quite. I said that I fail to find things but I never falsely find things... It's also worth noting that I usually find most stuff, but I prefer things I can work in absolutes, as tendancies are prone to subjectivism.

So I almost always find tings, and I am never wrong about the things in question existing or their location. After more than a dozen tests, and certainly when piled with "everything else", that's been quite conclusive for me that "somthing" is there.

In answer to your other question, I've been in MA for a decade, including TKD, Taiji, Silat, WC, and quite a bit of seminaring in many, many more.

Does it seem to anyone else that the meridians in the body said to be the pathways of chi are also nerve pathways. And nerves carry a physically measurable electric charge.

I suspect that it's another case of seperate events being covered under one umbrella. I think many people have nerve tricks and believe them to be chi.

I'd have to be feeling a specific example to form an opinion there... good question though.

Very interesting JerryLove.

I'm pretty athiest myself (insofar as more than just not believing in a deity I have difficulty with anything unprovable), but I've always had a "feeling" that some of these things exist. Put it down to my upbringing maybe -Mum's definately not religious but is fairly spiritual. Not hippyish, just that she believed in souls the way I believe in atoms. But... Maybe it's just that it seems very small minded to only believe in ideas within our own influence, so baisically, if the concept's hard to grasp it must be rubbish.

Anyway, I like to discuss but I leave decisions up to other people, thank you!

But what I really want to say is thank you for putting in a decent poll!! Almost everyone feels the need to make the options "yes, definately", "no way" and if you're lucky "I don't know". I really appreciate having decent options.

Random comment, yes, but thanks anyway. :D

Where I come from good mechanics is called Taijutsu. Taijutsu is moving naturally. After your taijutsu is good as in you move naturally and are more in tune with your body and the way it works you can then begin to understand Ki. Proper movement develops your Ki and you become able to use it.

I have seen a lot of people combine the two. Where you see someone calling proper movement Ki. As in we'll say the one inch punch. There is no Ki needed for this action. As in anymore then you need to brush your teeth. And of course, if you have Ki at your disposal then it would no doubt help. So for someone who has always heard leverage and angles and such described as Ki then it would be a radical thing to hear about Ki balls.

But to dismiss it is very closed minded.

"It's quite interesting..."

Thanks for everyone's responses so far and for keeping it all civil.
