Bruce Lee on different styles

Recommended Posts

I agee that Bruce Lee's knowledge was somewhat limitted and i think he derived these opinions mainly from sparring with people and training with or even training people of different styles.

They are really just his views and i would say they are reasonably reliable...although not entirely accurate.

It depends a lot on the school and instructor as well.

(a better martial artist than both you an I - in case you didn't realise)

A better martial artist? Yes, true but he did not study all of those just read of them and maybe saw them. So therefore he has no real solid ground to judge these things by, just by his standards which you think are good because he is famous and a great martial artist.

Be as a tranquil pool of water in the woods. Calm, collected, reflecting on its surface all that is around it. Make your own mind such a quiet mirror reflecting the mind of the opponent. Even as your partner's impulse to attack passes through his mind it should be reflected in you.

No i'm just informing you of Bruce Lee's (a better martial artist than both you an I - in case you didn't realise) views.

Bruce Lee was a better Martial Artist than we are now. The difference is that I and others here still have a lifetime to study martial arts. Unfortunately Bruce Lee doesn't have the luxury to say that. I don't know if any of us will ever be as "good" as Bruce was, but I will have to assume that if I keep being dedicated to MA's and train hard, by the time I am an old man I will be more knowledgable then he was. There are Martial Artists in our time that are better than he was, and certainly Martial Artists that were better than he was then. The difference was that Bruce Lee was a great innovator and in turn this made him very famous. He was the Greatest Martial Arts Movie Star the World has ever known.
