Tombstone Posted May 19, 2003 Posted May 19, 2003 Well some of you may know that I've been looking for another place to train. It hasn't exactly been successful First it was the tornadoes, and now none of the dojo's seem interesting. I seriously want to get back into the swing of things but all of the places I've visited didn't really fascinate me. I enjoyed competing NHB at my old gym but that got old after a while. Maybe I'm just not an MA type of guy
Pacificshore Posted May 19, 2003 Posted May 19, 2003 Have you sat down and evaluated what it is you want from your training? Could it be that you just need some "away" time to get re-focused? Maybe a short break or re-evaluation of your training is what you need right now. Hope it works out in the long run. Good luck! Di'DaDeeeee!!!Mind of Mencia
Tombstone Posted May 19, 2003 Author Posted May 19, 2003 Thanks but I've been on a break for awhile now.
shotochem Posted May 19, 2003 Posted May 19, 2003 Hi TS, What you need is to get back into the swing of things. Start to train a bit on your own while you are looking for a new school. If you find that you no longer enjoy training in MA. So be it. Find something you really enjoy and do it. I know a few people Ive trained with that decided that they no longer enjoyed MA training. One decided to take up marathon running and painting another swims and plays softball. The most important thing is to enjoy and really love what you are doing in your spare time. Pain is only temporary, the memory of that pain lasts a lifetime.
chh Posted May 19, 2003 Posted May 19, 2003 ...the places I've visited didn't really fascinate me.Pretty high standards! My dojo certainly didn't hold any fascination for me. I liked the people, I liked the way it was run, and the training looked about what I expected, that was pretty much it. What are you really looking for?
Tombstone Posted May 19, 2003 Author Posted May 19, 2003 Thanks Shotochem. Chh, it wasn't really about high standards. It's just that none of the places I visited held my interest. I can't picture myself actually wanting to go and train at any of those places. I'm not sure what I'm looking for actually. Whatever it is, I haven't found it yet.
Tombstone Posted May 19, 2003 Author Posted May 19, 2003 Well as it turns out, I might be starting Kendo. I found a website that supposively helps people find a Kendo dojo around them. I've sent them an email and I'm hoping they have some good info. It might be hard to find a Kendo place way down here in the south though
