My 9 year old daughter threw a playground bully with a simple shoulder throw as he attacked one of her friends. He didn't bother the girls again :brow: !!!

Suki nage. Good throw, but how did you apply it. It kind of hard to get into with someone swinging, also how did you avoid being pulled down too.

Mind, body and fist. Its all a man truly needs.

I think they would work. I kinda prefer wrestling takedowns somewhat but I'd love to pull off a good hip throw. Itz juss that I'm more proficient at takedowns

my dad (2nd degree dan, while giving a demonstration) accidentally got thrown full force on a wooden stage by his (and now mine also) sensai, he didn't break anything but it made the crowd happy he said :D  .

I almost always combine throws with a joint lock or pressure point hold of sorts. It makes it that much more likely to work.

We work throws or take downs into sparring. We also do them separately if we are focusing on a particular technique. I must say that we emphasize grappling (tuite) more than just throwing them. By this i mean controlling the opponent, either by joint locks, pressure points, taking them down to the ground, etc., you get the picture.
