MuayThai Fighter Posted June 16, 2003 Posted June 16, 2003 I like my style Pankration because we learn to fight and avoid katas. We get straight to the point. I like the fact that we learn both Muay Thai and Grappling(submission wrestling),making us the most rounded martial arts. Hey, MuayThai fighter, how common is your style? I've never heard of it (not that that's saying much ), and it sounds interesting. I'm absolutely in love with Muay Thai, and this sounds pretty damn cool! It's a very old style but it changes as time goes by it doesn't believe in keeping to tradition like other styles. However it isn't too common since it was banned for centuries due to how aggressive it was and still is,it's only now coming back into existance. Alot of people in last few years have heard of Pankration, but there aren't too many areas that teach Pankration yet.
Fenris-wolf Posted June 16, 2003 Posted June 16, 2003 Damn! And since I live in NZ it probably won't emerge for years yet... Oh well, hopefully I'll be going over to Thailand to train sometime next year, so I could have a look around while I'm there. Maybe see if anyone at the camp I go to knows anything about it. Thanks, anyway Let Us Turn The Jump Rope In Accord With Socialist Principles!
granmasterchen Posted June 19, 2003 Posted June 19, 2003 my instructors combined several styles into one so that when we were in a fighting scenario we were very well rounded, for that i am very grateful. That which does not destroy me will only make me stronger
sansoouser Posted June 22, 2003 Posted June 22, 2003 San Soo Very effective for self defense the fights I have been in lasted no longer than 5 seconds. It is a dirty fighting are somewhat, most techniques end with a groin kick or face kick when the opponent is on the ground. The amateur shoots his hands out ferociously, but lacks any true power. A master is not so flamboyant, but his touch is as heavy as a mountain.
Seanbomber Posted June 25, 2003 Posted June 25, 2003 Well i have three styles, kenpo for its powerful punches, Tae Kwon Do, for its strong kicks, and Shotokahn for its great spirit and fighting style Death Defying Training is ment to take you to the limit and the verge of death, and then next time to go over that limit. Keep training and i hope we get to spar sumtime!
