Drunken Monkey Posted June 1, 2003 Posted June 1, 2003 i like the way how my normal looking sifu is so calm and harmless looking... ...until he rolss up his sleeves, his eyes light up and he begins to smile... post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
Ironberg Posted June 2, 2003 Posted June 2, 2003 I study American Karate (70% TKD, 30% lots-of-other-stuff). This art gives one the ability to choose what one thinks is effective from countless ranges of striking. Being a lankey 6'4'', I especially enjoy the kicks. I love the way the kicking arts make me sweat! "An enlightened man would offer a weary traveler a bed for the night, and invite him to share a civilized conversation over a bowl of... Cocoa Puffs."
Bretty101 Posted June 3, 2003 Posted June 3, 2003 My style Taekwondo. The best thing about TKD are it's practical techniques. Only joking. It's flash, I love it!!!!! Bretty
nathanjusko Posted June 5, 2003 Posted June 5, 2003 I don't see the martial arts as being necessarily philosophical, but that's why i do TKD. I prefer to stay true to myself and tell myself that the best part of my martial art is kicking someone in the side of the head, or at least knowing i can.
Fenris-wolf Posted June 9, 2003 Posted June 9, 2003 Well, martial arts in general I love because they feel so... right. I don't know, have you noticed how you almost never get nasty people in martial arts? It's great; you fight, you try and hit each other, hurt each other and after you hug and are friends again. More specifically, I practice Muay Thai and I love how REAL it is. (ie: contact sparring) Let Us Turn The Jump Rope In Accord With Socialist Principles!
Budderfly Posted June 9, 2003 Posted June 9, 2003 Tong Moo Do: I like how we are exposed to all styles and are open minded on new ideas and techniques.
Sens55 Posted June 10, 2003 Posted June 10, 2003 In Moo Duk Kwan I love the blending of the various arts. They are unabashed when they point out the derivation of a Chinese Kung Fu technique or the assimilation of an Okinawan form. It's kind of a smorgasbord of older asian martial arts.
Shotokan_Fighter Posted June 10, 2003 Posted June 10, 2003 the one thing i like about my style is the effectivness and power (speed) of shotokan karate "When I fight, I fight with my heart, and soul. My heart, and soul is Shotokan Karate."Shotokan_fighters creed"karate has to come natural in a fight, if you have to think about using karate in a fight, you will loose the fight"3rd kyu brown belt - shotokan karate
MuayThai Fighter Posted June 14, 2003 Posted June 14, 2003 I like my style Pankration because we learn to fight and avoid katas. We get straight to the point. I like the fact that we learn both Muay Thai and Grappling(submission wrestling),making us the most rounded martial arts. Fight,Fight,Fight,Fight,is what we're all about.Full contact no holds barred fights. I like the fact that we can use basically anything from shin kicks, knees to head and body, jabs, hooks, chokes from stand up and ground, throws, take downs, ankle locks, knee locks, elbow locks, etc.and can even punch opponent on ground.Almost everything goes just as would be in a real situation. Now to me that's a martial arts.

I've never heard of it (not that that's saying much ), and it sounds interesting. I'm absolutely in love with Muay Thai, and this sounds pretty damn cool!
