Severe Matburn Posted May 15, 2003 Posted May 15, 2003 I do Russian Sambo. I like the ground-fighting (juss like BJJ only without the Gi) "razor elbows, killer knees, iron fists and monster kicks""Nice punch!!!, now let's see how well you punch with a broken arm"
shotokanwarrior Posted May 16, 2003 Posted May 16, 2003 My art is very open, yes we learn the classical karate stuff but the teacher also teaches outside the lines of tradition. He as 40 years of martial arts and because he was in the air force has fought and learned from all over the world. To achieve rank you must follow the usual way but after orange belt he invites you for special classes where you are taught some more exciting stuff from boxing to grappling and weapons Where Art ends, nature begins.
Treebranch Posted May 16, 2003 Posted May 16, 2003 The think I like the best about Togakure Ryu Ninpo Taijutsu is the endless possibilites. "It is easier to find men who will volunteer to die, than to find those who are willing to endure pain with patience.""Lock em out or Knock em out"

wckf_azn Posted May 23, 2003 Posted May 23, 2003 in wing chun i like the concept of the 50-50 weight distribution, this allows you to move in every direction easily and kick without steping forward first. unlike the front stance which restricts your side movements. my favourite block in wing chun is the tan sao... i feel as if it lets me move on to my opponents blind side easily, and then countering. http://pcorp.azn.nu | phuong nguyen | wckf | vovinam
TomanGaidin Posted May 26, 2003 Posted May 26, 2003 One good thing about aikido? Probably most irimi nage (entering throws). They're fast, simple, effective, and can be used without the opponent having to throw a committed strike first. That is, providing you're good enough to make it work... can't say I'm at the level where it works 100% all the time, yet .
Tamojin Posted May 31, 2003 Posted May 31, 2003 I love the mysticism and depth in seven star praying mantis. It has monkey, tiger, leopard, monkey, eagle, dragon and crane. Never ceases to amaze me! Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless--like water.
