btroadman Posted August 18, 2003 Posted August 18, 2003 I think it becomes a bad thing when people are forking out $30-$50 extra every month or two for raising to the next belt. In TaeKwonDo and most other martial arts, there is a specific reason for each belt level. Whether it is mastering certain kicks, punches, moves, or forms....there is a set standard out there. I have been to a half dozen or so schools that offer Cardio Kickboxing, no belts. So this school is definitely the exception, not the rule. Can you opt out of the belt system? Or just don't test, get out of the class everything you can without the extra payment! BJJ - Blue BeltTaeKwonDo - Brown BeltKrav MagaKickboxing
AndrewGreen Posted August 18, 2003 Posted August 18, 2003 The payment is going to be there either way. Whether it is in the form of monthly payments or testing fees, the rent needs to get paid. And why can't there be a standard within cardio? Perhaps the best standard is simply still being there so many months down. Isn't that the biggest accomplishment in a fitness program anyway, staying with it. Andrew Greenhttp://innovativema.ca - All the top martial arts news!
btroadman Posted August 18, 2003 Posted August 18, 2003 I am a member at a Gym and pay a monthly fee to workout there. They don't throw in extra charges for belts every month or two. Maybe they should have belts for that too, then charge more $$$$ for that. The simple truth is Cardio workouts are not Martial Arts. Belts are ridiculous.
